Out of Reach

A person on a high rock with the words Out of Reach describing the subject of the post.

For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.

Psalm 27:4-5

They are reaching, reaching for me

Enemies on every side.

The ground is quivering, quaking

Once solid now falling.

You are reaching, reaching for me

Pulling me to Your side.

The Rock is firm, immovable

Underneath my feet.

I am out of reach.

I wonder dear reader what is reaching for you today. Is it an enemy wearing the guise of a loved one? Is it the grenade lobbed in a short message on a blinking screen? I wonder how you are.

I wonder what previously solid ground beneath your feet is now shaking. What is the One who made the mountains making of your solid ground today as it falls into the sea? I wonder what He has in mind in the earthquake of our comfort.

I wonder if you see Him reaching for you. Can you feel Him pulling you to His side? I wonder if you can see Him, feel His touch in the whirlwind.

I wonder if the shuddering ground beneath you has completed its shaking, so that what cannot be shaken remains. Do you feel the Rock under your blistered feet? I wonder how long it will be until the shaking stops, dear one.

I wonder if you are out of reach today. I pray you are.

Thank You, God our high Rock, for placing us out of reach. Amen.
